Visual identity: what it is, what it includes and what it costs
A visual identity is a consistent system of elements by which customers recognise a brand: logo, colours, typography, photo and graphic style, and the rules for using them recorded in a brand book. In Poland in 2026 a basic package costs roughly PLN 3,000 to 8,000 net, and a full system for a company PLN 8,000 to 25,000.

What is a visual identity?
A visual identity is everything a customer sees before reading a single word about your company. It is the logo, colours, typefaces, the way content is laid out, and the style of photos and illustrations. More important than the individual elements, however, are the rules that join them into a system. Thanks to them, a business card, a website, an Instagram post and a wrapped car all look like the work of one brand.
A good identity works like a mental shortcut. A customer who has once remembered the colour and shape of a mark will recognise the company in a crowd of ads without reading the name. That is why big brands guard their rules as consistently as their prices.
What does a company’s visual identity include?
The scope depends on the size of the company, but every professional system rests on the same foundations.
Core elements
- Logo in its primary and simplified versions and as a symbol, in colour and monochrome variants.
- Colour palette with CMYK, RGB, HEX and Pantone values, so the colour is the same on screen and in print.
- Typography: typefaces for headings and body text, licensed for the company.
- Brand book: clear space, minimum sizes, forbidden uses, colour combinations.
Extended elements
- Business stationery: business cards, letterhead, envelopes, e-mail signature, proposal template.
- Social media and presentation templates the team can edit itself.
- Photo, icon and illustration style, graphic patterns.
- Signage: shop signs, light boxes, vehicle wrapping, clothing, trade show materials.
- A website that carries the whole system into the channel where customers most often get to know the company.
Combining colours well is a separate topic — we write more about how colours influence customers’ decisions in our articles on the meaning of colours in a logo and on colour psychology.
Visual identity vs branding and logo
These three terms are often confused, and each means something different.
| Term | What it is | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Logo | The company’s graphic mark, one element of the system | Symbol and logotype on a business card |
| Visual identity | The system of all graphic elements and the rules for using them | Brand book, templates, colours, typography |
| Branding | All the work on a brand: strategy, communication, image and customer experience | Positioning, tone of voice, name, identity |
In practice a logo without a system quickly gets diluted: every supplier uses it differently, the colours “drift”, and materials look as if they came from different companies. That is why an identity is designed together with the mark, not bolted on years later.
Examples of visual identity from our work
It is best seen in specific projects.
- Vetlab — a veterinary laboratory. A system based on clear typography and a palette that works on sample packaging as well as on the test results website.
- Hubertech — a shooting range in Jaworzno. A rebrand that kept the recognisable elements of the old mark and put communication in order, from the shop sign to social media.
- Forum Antiquum — a hotel. An identity combining the historic character of the place with a modern, restrained layout of guest materials.
- KUS Investments — investments. A calm, expert system that builds trust in an industry where clients entrust large sums of money.
You will find more projects, from logos to complete systems, in our case studies.
How much does a visual identity cost in 2026?
Market prices vary widely, because the same name is used to sell both a logo with two colours and a system for a chain of branches. The ranges below are indicative net amounts in Poland in 2026.
| Scope | Indicative net price | What it usually includes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic package | PLN 3,000 – 8,000 | Logo in versions, colours, typography, a mini brand book |
| Full identity | PLN 8,000 – 25,000 | All of the above plus stationery, social media and presentation templates, an extended brand book |
| Brand system with strategy | from PLN 25,000 | Workshops and strategy, naming or rebranding, identity, signage, roll-out across channels |
The price is most affected by the number of elements to design, the need for strategy and research, the number of revision rounds, font and photo licences, and the transfer of copyright. We discuss the design of the mark itself in more detail in our article on how much a logo costs.
How does a visual identity project run?
- Brief and research — a conversation about the company, its customers and competitors, a review of current materials.
- Creative direction — moodboards and 2–3 concepts of the mark with first applications.
- Developing the system — colours, typography, patterns, photo style, key materials.
- Brand book and files — rules, vector and raster files, editable templates.
- Roll-out — website, print, signage and social media, so the system starts working straight away.
It usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. If the company already has a recognisable mark, putting the system in order and extending it is sometimes enough instead of a full rebrand.
When does a company need a new identity?
- Every supplier uses a different version of the logo, and materials look as if they came from different companies.
- The company has grown, but its image still looks as it did at the start.
- You are entering a new market or a new customer group.
- The logo does not work at small sizes: in an app icon, an avatar or an e-mail signature.
If you recognise two of these signs, it is worth talking about a brand audit. In many cases a well-planned rebrand keeps what customers already know and puts the rest in order.
